Clients can add or change gratuity at almost any stage—before a visit, after it is completed, before an invoice is issued, or even after the invoice is fully paid. Whenever a tip is updated the portal automatically reconciles each visit-level tip so the invoice total equals the client’s actual payment.
Ways clients can tip
Automatic Tips in the profile
Under Profile › Automatically Tip, a client can save a fixed dollar amount or percentage; that tip is attached to every new or requested visit.
Visit-level tips on My Schedule
Until a visit is invoiced—or while it sits on an unpaid invoice—clients can select the visit(s) on their Schedule and click Tip to add or adjust gratuity just for those visits.
Adding or adjusting tips while paying an invoice
On the Pay Now page a client can change the tip amount before confirming payment; the portal redistributes the new tip across all visits on that invoice.
Tip-only payments
If a client has no open invoices they can still send a standalone tip from Pay Now. The amount is applied to the most recent invoice’s visits. To tip on an older invoice they can open that invoice and click Pay Tip.
How tips are split
Tips added during payment—or via tip-only payments—are split evenly across every visit on the invoice. If you need a different distribution, use Billing › Invoices and click the $ in the Tip column to open the Tip Distribution Tool:
See every visit and the dollars currently applied.
Click Edit Tip Distribution to raise or lower individual visit tips; the total must still equal the client’s paid tip.
Save to update the invoice and the visit-level sitter pay.
Impact on payroll
Tip or pay adjustments on closed invoices automatically flow into the next pay period. For details on how tips appear in pay runs, see Payroll.
